Strong & Courageous

September 1, 2023

Joshua 1:9 “Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

These words were written for us. God is intentional with His words. We can build everything we do on His words for our lives. They are His promises.

“Kind words can be short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless.” - Mother Teresa

Joshua was being called to do something he’s never done before. When we are about to do something different we have to be strong and courageous. It takes strength and courage to be successful.

However, when God calls us to do something different the enemy’s tools come out; fear and doubt. Fear distracts and doubt immobilizes.

This is why something often happens between our will and ability. When our will and ability do not match we become fearful that we can do what God has called us to do. If fear has not stopped us from moving then doubt paralyzes us from action, because our ability is not what the world says is required.

Strength is the ability to advance willingly. Courage is produced by what it relies on.
God gives us promises to show us that we always have something to look forward to. God is calling us to have strength and courage in all He has called us to because He will give us strength and our courage relies on Him.

2 Corinthians 1:20 “The yes to all of God’s promises is in Christ. And that is why we say “Amen” through Christ to the glory of God.”

1 John 1:9 “But if we confess our sins, God will forgive us. We can trust God to do this. He always does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrong things we have done.”

Strength and courage are His principles for which we are beckoned to live our lives. We need the word of God. We must do what He says and meditate on it. Then we will be prosperous.

We cannot know His words and promises and not do it. When we don’t read His words our blessings are on layaway. Strength and courage are found in His presence. When God is with us the impossible becomes possible.

Did you know, religion means discipline and consistency? Religion is the expectation. He requires our love and expectation. He requires our discipline and consistency.

Through our discipline and consistency, we gain His strength. God being with us doesn’t mean smooth sailing. It means that we will not drown. He will walk us through everything with every step we take as we seek His presence.

Strength and courage are found in His promises, principles, presence, and our obedience.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail? How many people are waiting on you to say yes?
