God Is Almighty

January 10, 2024

We find who God is in His word, but sometimes we are on cruise control. We settle. However, when we know who God is it changes us.

Psalm 9:10 Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

We have to seek Him to know Him. If we don’t know what kind of God He is, we won’t be able to trust Him.

God is almighty.

Daniel 11:32 With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him. (he and him are referring to satan)

We can’t do big things without Him. He will do things for and through us when we let Him. We can remember He has infinite power. Nothing compares to Him.

Jeremiah 10:6 No one is like you, Lord; you are great, and your name is mighty in power.

Psalm 147:4-5 He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.

Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

So then why do we freak out when we see all the chaos in the world? When we know we serve an almighty God there is no need to fret or worry. He cannot be stopped from accomplishing His purpose.

Isaiah 14:27 For the Lord Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?

Psalm 115:3 Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.

Daniel 4:35 All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: “What have you done?”

We can have less anxiety when we know how big our God is. His power is superior to all others.

Ephesians 1:21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

Our God who is all powerful is also personal.

Psalm 8:3 When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

Luke 11:2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.

He has power to fulfill His promises. However, when there is a delay, doubt can creep in. We do not have doubt when our focus is firmly placed on His promises. Do you know His promises?

Genesis 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless.

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.

He is not only all powerful, but He has also delegated power to us. God gives us His power through the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

We live a life of victory because of the divine power of God.

Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
We will never experience the power of God when we are playing it safe. It doesn’t happen every time, but we have to keep stepping out in faith. He doesn’t move based on our ability, but rather on our availability.

Ephesians 1:19-21 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

The power of God comes when we step out onto the battlefield. Reference the story of David and Goliath. Are we looking at how big the giant is or how big our God is?

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Don’t let what doesn’t happen or disappointment keep you from your next appointment.

Isaiah 40:28-31 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
