21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

The 21 Days of Fasting and Prayer begins on Monday, March 16. We encourage you to take part as we pray for opportunities to share our faith with family members, friends, and coworkers and for the boldness to invite them to Grace Family Church’s Easter services.

21 Days Of Prayer & Fasting

Welcome to Grace Church Family’s 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting! Over the next three weeks, we’ll be praying for God to move powerfully in Tampa this Easter—opening doors to share our faith and transforming lives during Easter weekend.

Fasting is simply choosing to give up something physical for a spiritual purpose. It’s making space by removing something that normally fills it, so we can fill that space with prayer, worship, and time with Jesus.

We don’t fast to impress God. We fast to draw closer to Him. In Matthew 6, Jesus didn’t say if you fast, He said when you fast. It’s part of how we grow spiritually and seek Him more intentionally.

Throughout Scripture, people fasted for clarity, breakthrough, repentance, and direction. Fasting helps remove distractions so we can hear God more clearly.

We’re sharing this now so you can prepare. Pray about it. Talk with your family. Decide what these 21 days will look like for you. We’ll provide details and resources online, including daily devotionals.

At its heart, this is about removing anything that gets in the way of being close to Jesus.

Begin asking: What am I believing God for? What breakthrough am I praying toward? Where do I need deeper surrender?

For 21 days, we will seek God together and we believe when a church prays and fasts together, God moves powerfully.

  • COMPLETE FAST - In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option.
  • SELECTIVE FAST - This type of fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. One example of a selective fast is the Daniel Fast, during which you remove meat, sweets, and bread from your diet and consume water and juice for fluids and fruits and vegetables for food.
  • PARTIAL FAST - This fast is sometimes called the "Jewish Fast" and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM, or from sunup to sundown.
  • SOUL FAST - This fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting food, or if you wish the refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully bring that element back into your life in healthy doses at the conclusion of the fast.
