We sing in church words such as "Worthy is the Lamb", "There is One who is worthy", "Worthy of it all", and "Who else is worthy". We sing it, but do we believe it? Do we believe the God of the universe is worthy when we doubt our own worth sometimes? When we encounter trials, why do we go to places of doubt, fear, and unwantedness? Genesis 1:26 tells us that God created us in His likeness and if we deem God worthy, why do we doubt our own worthiness?

I have struggled with these feelings of worthiness my entire life. As a single, divorced mother trying to raise a boy into a man, I have had my fair share of experiences where this world has told me I am not worthy. Not worthy of love, not worthy to be a mom, not worthy to be a wife, not worthy to be loved. The list goes on and on. These are all lies. This was never God's design. The things that have happened to me and the people in this life who have hurt me DO NOT define me. So how do I shift that narrative in my mind? By looking to the designer who made me in his image and believing in who he is!

Ephesians 2:10 tells us "We have been his poetry" Our lives are a poetic story with trials, twists, turns, tears, and even joy and happiness. The Creator chose each and every one of us to fulfill a purpose here on this earth for His Kingdom. As Ephesians 2:10 says, we are "a re-created" people, and it starts with a covenant from a God who loved us enough to make the covenant unbreakable! Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice to show us He loves us and we are worthy of that love. All we have to do is choose to believe it and join hands with him. We need to seek him daily, get to know him daily, and choose him daily. Choose him first in the trials at work, in marriages, in parenting, in friendships, in loss and grief, in divorce, widowhood, singleness, and long-awaited unanswered prayers. The closer we draw to him, the more we will understand who he is and want to be like him. The more we see His worthiness, the more we will believe in our own worthiness! The Bible tells us in Genesis 1:31a "God saw all that he made, and it was very good." The designer said WE are good! And not just good, but very good! So next time I am singing one of the beautifully crafted songs that praise our God's worthiness, I will choose to believe it!

I will choose daily to stand firm in the knowledge that the God of the universe says I am WORTHY!
