Wonder and Awe

August 22, 2025

By Jenn Miller

“Who is like you, O LORD, among the gods?

Who is like you, majestic in holiness,

awesome in glory, working wonders?"

Exodus 15:11

A magnificent sunset.

Perfect waves rolling in over the ocean.

Breathtaking views of mountains so vast.

A rainbow that encompasses the sky in such brilliance that you can’t help BUT stare.

A song that stirred your emotions and stopped you in your tracks.

These are “wonder and awe moments”. They take your breath away and cause you to stop and ponder.

Our God is not only the Creator of wonder and awe; He embodies wonder and awe!

He is all-powerful, ever-present, always faithful, and never-changing. Not only does He see everything and know all about us (including the hairs on our heads - Matthew 10:30, every tear we cry - Psalm 56:8, and every word we speak before it leaves our lips - Psalm 139:4), He is also loving, patient, and merciful toward us!

This is God’s character—it’s who He is.

When we know God’s character, we begin to trust Him deeper. The more we trust Him and cultivate His character in our lives, the quicker we are to obey Him. Our obedience demonstrates our love for Him and helps us resemble Him even more.

You are invited to embark on a journey of discovery. Our journey will lead us to discover the Wonder and Awe of who He is, so we can learn how to be more like Him. Grab your Bible, bring some friends, and get ready to find yourself in wonder and awe of who God is!
