All in a WORD ...

Amy Hafner, GFC South Tampa

About two and a half years ago I started reading the Bible almost every day.  Not because I thought I would get a gold star with God, but because some of what I believed, the way I was programmed, was wrong. I believed lies about myself -  I wasn’t good enough, pretty enough, smart enough, fun enough, healthy enough, and so on and so on. I repeated these lies over and over in my head until the lie seemed like truth.

When someone suggested reading the Bible every day, I didn’t want to.  I thought, “Oh just something else to check off my list.”  I’m not a rule follower, but as I’ve matured I realize the reason why. Every day you will be bombarded by the world, the enemy will creep in and tell you everywhere the world sees failure.  Ephesians 6:17 (the armor of God) tells us to “take up the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.” The sword is the only offensive weapon mentioned in this section, because the word of God (the truth) will destroy deception.

We have to read it…every day, but if we do we usually get a Rhema.

In the New Testament the word, “word” has two different meanings.  Logos is the written Word. It is what God said and has been written in the Bible, it is the truth, it is what we teach. We need to know it, study it, remember it, but it doesn’t stop there.  Have you ever read a verse and it just jumped off the page, then you tried to explain it to someone else and they just looked puzzled, obviously happy for you, but maybe not quite as excited as you are?  Well that’s because you just had a Rhema!  Wootwoot!

A Rhema will take the focus off the lie and replace it with truth.  It is when the Spirit living in you takes that Word, and gives it wings.  It takes the focus off of you and puts it on God, and it is POWERFUL. One of the first Rhema verses for me was John 3:30, “He must increase (He being God); I must decrease.” With Him our worth is not a worldly worth but an eternal worth.

He says:

You are my child (John 1:12, Galatians 4:7).

You are alive with Christ (Ephesians 2:5).

You are one with Jesus (Galatians 3:28).

You are holy and without blame before God (Ephesians 1:4).

You have received the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus, the eyes of your heart are enlightened, so that you know the hope of having life in Christ (Ephesians 1:17-18).

You have been blessed with every spiritual blessing in heavenly places (Ephesians 1:3).

You live by faith in God and extinguish all the flaming attacks of the enemy (Ephesians 6:16).

You are God’s workmanship, created in Christ to do good works that He has prepared you to do (Ephesians 2:10).

You are redeemed and forgive by the grace of Jesus (Ephesians 1:7).

You are redeemed from the curse of sin, sickness, and poverty (Galatians 3:13).

You are greatly loved by God (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:4).

You are predestined by God to obtain an inheritance (Ephesians 1:10-11).

You have been sealed by the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 1:13).

You are seated in heaven with Christ (Ephesians 2:6).

You produce good works (Ephesians 2:10).

You have been bought back and your debt has been paid (Ephesians 2:13).

You have a new self is righteous and holy (Ephesians 4:24).

Praying for a Rhema! Love ya'll!
