10 Things I'm Thankful For

ThankfulQuote

This month we're blogging about those things, items, people, or places we are thankful for.  I'm sure all the bloggers will get emotional and sentimental about the areas where they're appreciative.  While I'm very thankful for family, food, and shelter, I'm going in a different way with my post.

What about the things we're thankful for that we probably never paid attention to?  Some of my list is funny and others are not.  Some are even just random thoughts.  Hopefully after reading through my list, it will start you thinking about your grateful places.

Spanx undergarments.
Need I say more?  This invention was the best for women since sliced bread.  There are just some curves, bumps, and potholes on our body that need to be stuffed and smoothed by our Spanx!

Sanitation workers.
Have you ever thought about how "stinky" our world would be without them?  I thought about them the other day because in my son's eyes, they are heroes.  He loves watching them every Tuesday and Friday from the window as they wisk away our trash.  The next time you see them, tell them "thank you"!

Reality TV.
It's cheap.  It's scripted and just plain ole fun to watch.  At times, it's my guilty pleasure.  I don't watch a lot of it but when I do, it's just fascinating to see others with more dysfunction than my family.

Smartphones.
Where would we be without them?  It's such a thrill to have maps, google, and social media right under my fingers.  With just a few strikes, I can go anywhere I want to on the world wide web.

Texting.
Let's face it, some people you just don't want to talk to.  You just want to send a quick note to avoid a 30 minute conversation about nothing.

Girls Weekend Trip.
It's a vital part of my yearly routine.  Once a year, my twin sister and our closest friends head to the beach for a weekend of relaxation.  We purposely choose a resort location that's secluded, found on the beach, and offers no other activities for us to participate in.  There's no agenda.  No sippy cups.  No husbands.  No kids.  Just late nights, guilty food pleasures, plenty of pictures and hours of conversations.

Air Conditioners.
When you live in the South, there's nothing better than a cool breeze on a hot summer day.

Being a Twin.
Everyone won't have this experience.  Having an identical twin is indescribable.  My sister and I are extremely close and we absolutely love being together.  We have so much fun when we're together.  I can't imagine life without her.  She's amazing!

Journaling.
Writing and solving life's most challenging problems through written words is therapeutic and much needed for my sanity.  Some of my journal pages are tear-soaked from the day's worries and concerns.  Without it I wouldn't be able to quickly reflect back and see where God has delivered me from.

Gaining wisdom through experiences.
If I didn't learn from my mistakes and failures, what's the purpose?  We are the sum total of our experiences and we are wiser because of them.

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.   (Psalms 28:7)

I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord.  (Psalms 116:17)
