How Do We Fight The Enemy?
There are realms beyond our 5 senses that are impacting us. There is a spiritual realm that is fighting for our souls. Have you ever stopped to consider that some of the things we go through are just a byproduct of our foolishness, but other times it is supernatural?
Take some time to read Ephesians. This book is filled with tangible and applicable ways for us to view our lives and then how to live our lives. Ephesians chapters 1-3 talks about our spiritual inheritance and chapters 4-6 talk about our spiritual responsibility.
Ephesians 6:10-11 “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”
We need to use the strength of the Lord, not our own. We can never win a battle on our own. When we use our own strength we play right into the enemy's hands. With God’s power the enemy does not stand a chance.
We walk in the authority of God when we speak in the strength of Him. The words we choose to speak over our lives daily are powerful and either give us strength or deplete us of strength. The enemy has schemes that start with how we think and speak. He is waiting, watching, plotting and planning against us.
1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The enemy has a plan; thus, we also have to have a plan. He is coming after us because God's hand is on us. In this way, we must put on the armor of God.
What is the armor?
The Belt of Truth - Truth is the foundation and the objective standard by which all things are measured. Our truth standard is Jesus Christ. The enemy is going to attack the truth in our life first.
Breastplate of righteousness - Being righteous means choosing to live according to God's will. We must choose Him first. God is the standard, not our friends, family, or the culture that surrounds us.
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Shoes of peace - No matter what we are going through God has got us. We can walk with full confidence because we have the full assurance of God's word.
Shield of faith - Every person is given a measure of faith. We have already been measured for the amount of faith we need for our purpose.
Helmet of salvation - This protects us from fatal thoughts. The battle begins in our mind; therefore, we need to protect our thoughts.
Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Sword of the spirit - The word of God is our sword. It’s the only offensive and defensive weapon. The word of God is the cheat code for abundant living. It is the guide for life and leveling up our lives.
Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”.
Prayer - If you forget about everything else, pray. We fight from a place of victory, but we can lose because we won’t reach out to our battalion, our community. We must fight together.
