How Did Grace Family Start?

The Story of Pastor Craig and Debbie Altman
When Pastor Craig met his wife, he did not know God. He wanted to spend time with her, but the only way he could was by going to church with her. On a Saturday night out he was 9 beers in and he heard God. God nudged him to go to church the next day with the girl he wanted to date.

Pastor Craig and his wife do not come from Christian backgrounds. Yet their hearts are for people who are far from God. They want GFC to be a safe place to share a dangerous message.

This church started with 80 people in 1994. It grew to a multi-site church in 2007. Pastor Craig started looking at legacy and longevity 7 years ago. At 23 years into this path Pastor Craig was the only one preaching. However, when you have kingdom mindset you have to let go of your ego. This is how we migrated into the shared teaching model.

Going from a founder model to shared model roles change and evolve. We have to come together. We need a deep bench to have a great team.

The church is a launching place to bring others in and support our community. The church is not a cruise trip. It’s a battleship. This is how we posture for generational impact. We want to be an influence for eternity.

When the word of God gets planted in us we will always know where home is. Always remember, the word of God does not return void. Sharing His word can be the greatest investment into God's house.

2 Corinthians 9:12-15 MSG Carrying out this social relief work involves far more than helping meet the bare needs of poor Christians. It also produces abundant and bountiful thanksgivings to God. This relief offering is a prod to live at your very best, showing your gratitude to God by being openly obedient to the plain meaning of the Message of Christ. You show your gratitude through your generous offerings to your needy brothers and sisters, and really toward everyone. Meanwhile, moved by the extravagance of God in your lives, they’ll respond by praying for you in passionate intercession for whatever you need. Thank God for this gift, his gift. No language can praise it enough!

Giving is an act of service. We believe in a big God. So let’s act like it. No numbers are too big or small for Him. No matter our circumstances, pray. God will guide our hearts. It is important to remind ourselves that it is not equal work’s. It is equal sacrifice. This is where our focus must be placed.

Each and every part we all play matters. Pray and hear God's voice. God honors sacrifice. So why do we sacrifice? Because it saves lives.
