Evangelism & Being A Witness

March 17, 2024

He will give all the power you need to be a witness.

-When you have fear that, “my life isn’t perfect.” This is a part of your testimony. People are turned off by fake. Aren’t we all?! We all want to share authenticity. God uses our scars for His glory. Let’s get curious in searching for common ground with people.

-When you have the fear of offending someone or being rejected. We can place our focus on speaking the truth in love. The gospel is good news. Why not share that? Jesus does for all of us.

What do we have to lose? While we may be temporarily rejected, when we stand up for Him and we are persecuted for Him we are blessed. The bigger question is what do they have to lose? They have their salvation to lose.

Revelations 20:11-15 MSG I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.

The reality is there will be a second death if you are not in the book of life. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Some dos and don’ts when sharing

Don’t be weird. Be you. Be transparent. Be humble.
Don’t condemn. Don’t be self righteous.
Don’t argue. No one can hear anything in an argument.
Don’t force it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

Do listen.
Ask questions.
Share your story.
Trust God's word won’t return void.
Sprinkle the salt. Don’t pour it all on.
We gotta be wise and strategic.

Galatians 5:22-23 MSG But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.

We need to fish better. We are fishers of men.
